The war on talent has been waging on with increasing intensity given the fast-evolving business environment, changing demographics, and transformation of work, work processes, and work spaces. Apart from the usual “buy, borrow, or build” concept for human capital development, there is now the question of “bot” – to automate. For leaders of start-ups and SMEs with ambitions to scale up and scale out, what people strategies should they adopt?

Ms Aileen Tan
Group Chief Human Resource Officer, Singtel
Aileen Tan, Group CHRO, is responsible for the development of human resources across the Singtel Group and also leads its corporate sustainability function.
Aileen joined Singtel in June 2008. Prior to that, she was Group General Manager, Human Resources at WBL Corporation Limited and Vice President, Centres of Excellence with Abacus International Pte Ltd.
She co-chairs the Ministry of Manpower’s HR Industry Transformation Advisory Panel and is a member of the Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) Board, Singapore University of Social Sciences Board of Trustees and the Home Nursing Foundation Board.
Aileen holds a Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Science in Organisational Behaviour from the California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University, US. She is a pioneer IHRP Master Professional and received the Public Service Medal in 2018 for significant contributions to the Human Resources Sectors in Singapore.

Colin is also a Certified Action Learning Coach with the World Institute of Action Learning, an ATD Master Instructional DesignerTM and a Team Psychological Safety Certified Facilitator. He is passionate about helping individuals and teams realise their potential, and recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Applied Positive Psychology to deepen his knowledge in topics such as resilience, mindfulness, psychotherapy, counselling and coaching.
